Senior Accountant
Calibre CPA Group is an established and growing public accounting firm, and we are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our Accounting and Financial Services department in our Bethesda, MD office. This position requires extensive interaction with client personnel as well as outside vendors. Tasks include, but are not limited, to transaction processing, research, troubleshooting issues and discrepancies, serving as liaison between internal and external customers/vendors, all of which involve possessing outstanding customer service skills. Our offices are in downtown Bethesda, MD with travel in and around the greater Washington, DC metro area.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Accounting & Operational Management:
Process invoices, expense reports and check requests for complex entities and controlled affiliates using accounting software and other programs
Record deposit transactions using accounting software and other programs
Monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Manage the monthly close process
Assist with preparation of financial statements
Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing of invoices and deposit transactions
Receive, research, and resolve a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.
Prepare cost distribution schedules
File, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records, and reports.
Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for monthly and annual close
Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue and expenditures
Prepare supporting schedules for annual audit
Prepare allocations of payroll and overhead costs to project/program, and grants; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants
Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Ensure that all financial transactions are accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
Ensure full integration of data with all financial systems throughout the organization
Communication:
Monitor engagement progress and changes and keep manager and partners abreast of status
Provide supervision, review, and leadership to Calibre staff
Carry out an open-book style of financial management by sharing and training others on basic and technical accounting issues
Support the manager and partner in reporting to client management
Work closely with client personnel to support the accounting department.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
2+ years of progressive experience in public or private accounting
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and Outlook)
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Commercial real estate experience preferred
Ability to perform in a team-oriented environment
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and follow up on pending issues
Strong client service orientation
Ability to multi-task and learn new skills
