Senior AccountantCalibre CPA Group is an established and growing public accounting firm, and we are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join our Accounting and Financial Services department in our Bethesda, MD office. This position requires extensive interaction with client personnel as well as outside vendors. Tasks include, but are not limited, to transaction processing, research, troubleshooting issues and discrepancies, serving as liaison between internal and external customers/vendors, all of which involve possessing outstanding customer service skills. This position offers excellent opportunities for leadership and career advancement.Our offices are in downtown Bethesda, MD with travel in and around the greater Washington, DC metro area.Tasks include but are not limited to:Accounting & Operational Management:Process invoices, expense reports and check requests for complex entities and controlled affiliates using accounting software and other programsRecord deposit transactions using accounting software and other programsMonthly balance sheet account reconciliationsManage the monthly close processAssist with preparation of financial statementsInvestigate and resolve problems associated with processing of invoices and deposit transactionsReceive, research, and resolve a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.Prepare cost distribution schedulesFile, maintain, and distribute accounting documents, records, and reports.Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for monthly and annual closeMaintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue and expendituresPrepare supporting schedules for annual auditPrepare allocations of payroll and overhead costs to project/program, and grants; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grantsAnswers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.Ensure that all financial transactions are accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principlesEnsure full integration of data with all financial systems throughout the organizationCommunication:Monitor engagement progress and changes and keep manager and partners abreast of statusProvide supervision, review, and leadership to Calibre staffCarry out an open-book style of financial management by sharing and training others on basic and technical accounting issuesSupport the manager and partner in reporting to client managementWork closely with client personnel to support the accounting department. Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting2+ years of progressive experience in public or private accountingProficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and Outlook)Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.Commercial real estate experience preferredAbility to perform in a team-oriented environmentStrong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and follow up on pending issuesStrong client service orientationAbility to multi-task and learn new skillsAbout UsCalibre is an established and growing public accounting firm with an 80-year history in the Washington, DC, New York, Illinois, and California markets.
