Total Wine & More is looking for an Accounts Payable Senior Specialist to join our Accounting team onsite in Bethesda, MD. You will be responsible for processing invoices for supplies, newspaper advertisings, legal services and phone services for accuracy and propriety, including verifying that they have been properly coded and approved for payment. You will analyze actual costs vs. budget, making accrual journal entries, and reconciling balance sheet accounts during month-end. You will develop knowledge of accounting systems and assist in system testing, enhancements, and troubleshooting, as needs arise. You will report to the Accounting Manager.

You will

• Process invoices for payment within an automated environment, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, proper authorizations, proper coding, and making capital vs. expense determinations.
• Ensure that use-tax obligations are accrued where required.
• Ensure that invoice submissions are in compliance with company requirements.
• Upload invoices from Excel spreadsheets to Lawson/Infor Accounts Payable.
• Prepare supporting documentation in batches for review by the supervisor.
• Prepare journal entries for adjustments and month-end accruals.
• Reconcile various accrual accounts and prepare account reconciliation
• Perform research on payments and outstanding checks, as needed.
• Effectively communicate with vendors and review vendor statements for exceptions and omissions.
• Develop a knowledge base in various accounting systems and participate in system testing and enhancements.
• Assist team members as needed to meet all department deadlines.
• Participates in special projects, as required.
• Other duties, as assigned.
  You will come with
  
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in Accounting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in excel (can perform complex functions)
  • Knowledge of Lawson or other automated financial systems
