Reporting to Title: Senior Accounting Manager
Starting Salary Range: $70,000 - 75,000
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Staff Accountant provides support to the Finance Department
primarily in the areas of accounts payable, payroll, and general
accounting, under the direction of the Senior Accounting Manager.
They will be responsible for timely and proper communication with
vendors, external institutions, and staff members to answer
inquiries and/or gather necessary information needed to complete
assigned tasks. Aptitude for working with numerical data,
discretion in handling confidential information, high attention to
detail, and a strong commitment to thorough documentation are
crucial to this role.

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable
Process accounts payable for both the c3 and c4 entities, ensuring
accurate coding and required documentation for all transactions in
accordance with established procedures
Follow up with appropriate staff for collecting required
documentation or other information
Assist Sr Accounting Manager with vendor maintenance
responsibilities
Maintain schedule of employee benefit deductions
Review, monitor, and approve credit cards activity and expense
reimbursements in Nexonia and maintain accounting integrations
between Nexonia and Bill.
Monitor Bill clearing account and assist Sr Accounting Manager with
clearing transactions
Review sync errors daily and work with Sr Accounting Manager to
resolve
Payroll
Process semi-monthly payroll and related journal entries
Coordinate with payroll vendor
Prepare ERP (Employee Retirement Plan) files for processing through
third party ERP administrator system.
Additional Accounting and Supporting Duties
Prepare and enter/upload journal entries into the general ledger;
review all posted entries to ensure accuracy
Support training of non-finance staff in key fiscal processes,
including the onboarding of new staff and new process and refresher
training for all staff
Interact with other departments on a regular basis regarding
finance policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective
communication and coordination with key internal stakeholders
Support the preparation of external audits
Assist with maintaining updated documentation of the Foundation's
key processes and controls, including posting on the
intranet/CLICC
Prepare the weekly cash report
Assist with the monthly grants reconciliation to Fluxx
Assist with the restricted funds allocation and reporting
Maintain compliance with GAAP and IRS regulations
Record and reconcile bank activity
Qualifications

provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will also be

Bachelor's degree in accounting or combination of relevant
experience and training
Minimum two years progressive and hands-on accounting
experience
Can effectively research, track and resolve general accounting
problems and discrepancies
Can effectively cope with change and work independently
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a virtual or hybrid
environment
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams
and other virtual collaboration tools
Ability to complete projects accurately and within deadlines

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position will be remote during the COVID-19
pandemic with the option to work out of the Bethesda, MD office as
preferred, while complying with the prevailing in-person work
protocols (e.g., mask requirements, reserving a workstation).
Remote work requires logging onto your computer during work hours,
responding to emails and participating in video calls and meetings
throughout the day; therefore, access to high-speed, reliable
internets is crucial. The Foundation provides all required
equipment and supplies to undertake the tasks of the job (laptop,
monitors and other accessories) which are shipped to the employee's
home.
As the trajectory of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold, the
Foundation may adopt different hybrid operating practices and
different central work locations in the future that could require
more in-person work for this position.
