Join the HJF Team!HJF is seeking an Education Specialist (Exercise Physiology) to support the Rehab, Refit, Return to Duty (Rx3) program of the Human Performance Resources branch within Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP). HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to CHAMP.The Education Specialist will be responsible for reviewing literature to determine best practices for musculoskeletal injury assessment and rehabilitation. Development of musculoskeletal injury assessment protocols and home-based rehabilitation programs for musculoskeletal injuries. They'll oversee the administrative components of updating the Rehab, Refit, Return to Duty (Rx3) print, video, and photos materials. The Education Specialist will also prepare documents, presentations, and other materials to educate Service Members, Commanders, and healthcare professionals in the area of exercise physiology, human performance, and injury prevention.NOTE: As a U.S. Government contractor, all HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8, 2021. Proof of vaccination or an approved religious or medical accommodation will be required.Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and oversees the revisions to the existing Rx3 program, liaising with an external multimedia company to revise the videos and photos, and works with internal CHAMP staff and partners to ensure the content meets required objectives and standards. (30%)
  • Develops new injury assessment and prevention materials related to postpartum, osteoporosis, and neck/upper back components in consultation with CHAMP staff, and liaising with an external multimedia company to produce new videos and photos. (20%)
  • Prepares and submits requests to update Rx3 materials on HPRC-online.org in accordance with team operating procedures and tests website pages to ensure updates and materials are seamlessly processed. (20%)
  • Organizes and oversees the development of new Rx3 mobile application in consultation with CHAMP staff and liaising with an external app development company. (10%)
  • Works with HPRC team to engage in dissemination of Rx3 and HPRC educational content and products through relevant marketing outlets and partnership agreements. (5%)
  • Monitors project progress and coordinates processes to ensure project deadlines are met. (10%)
  • Reviews and translates exercise and environmental physiology literature/information for the program into educational materials and for individual projects and tasks within the program, assists project manager as needed, and attends regular team meetings. (5%)
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Expertise in musculoskeletal injury assessment and rehabilitation.
    • Knowledge of health promotion principles, public health and health education strategies.
    • Experience in interpreting research data and peer reviewed publications.
    • Experience should include knowledge and translation of research and development.
    • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team, use sound judgement in solving problems, and coordinate many complex systems and programs simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of project management principles, and good communications skills.
    • Knowledge of military culture and the military health system a plus.Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or related field, with focus in rehabilitation profession such as athletic training, physical therapy, or occupational therapy with experience in musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation required.Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required.Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: Certified athletic trainer (ATC), Physical Therapist (PT or DPT), Occupational Therapist (OT) preferred. Strength and conditioning, Personal training, Health Promotion or Health Education will also be considered.Work Environment: This job takes place in a medical center setting.Work Arrangement: 100% remote.Travel: Less than 10% travel to oversee the development of Rx3 content (photos and videos of exercises).Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust.Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, contacting your professional references, verification of previous employment, addresses, education, and credentials, a criminal background check, drug screening, and a department of motor vehicle (DMV) check.
