Job Description:

The Property Naming responsibilities include the research, ideation, recommendation and corporate-wide notifications for brand. This role serves as primary point of contact to develop new or modified hotel names per approved brand protocol for name structure. Develops new naming protocols as needed and maintains updates to existing protocol documentation; provides ongoing stewardship of the protocols. Facilitates the review of property name change requests involving Brand leadership, Legal, Owner & Franchise Services (OFS), and/or other stakeholder groups involved in potential name change; resolves name change conflicts by making recommendations and gaining alignment and approval from key stakeholders The core accountabilities of this position include: --- Proofreading & Copyediting: Proofread copy for spelling or grammatical errors and factual inaccuracies. In some cases, rewriting materials may be required. Copyedit manuscripts and traffic manuscript versions --- Property Naming: Research, ideation, recommendation and corporate-wide notifications --- Staff Supervision: Supervise a team of two executing proofreading and property naming work CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience --- Bachelor---s degree; 5 years--- experience in the English, Communications, Journalism or related professional area. --- Requires 3-5 years of work experience in creative communications and/or advertising with at least three years in a proofreading position; agency experience preferred. --- Thorough understanding of proofreading and copy-editing combined with demonstrated success managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail. --- Experience working with project management platform and recording labor hours consistently --- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills with ability to take initiative and make business decisions --- Customer oriented with a collaborative spirit and a drive to continuously improve; patience and cool under pressure --- Working knowledge of multi-channel (print, digital, social and production) processes and techniques --- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required --- Proven organizational skills, with the ability to successfully managing deadlines while juggling multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced agency environment. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES --- Naming Protocol Management --- Develops naming protocols for brands in partnership with Brand Management and Brand Marketing, modeling to other brand naming structures --- Maintains reference archive of all previous name change requests, as well as hotel openings and closings --- Executes updates to naming protocol documents and posting on MGS when hotel product is modified, enhanced (e.g., addition of feature that could be considered benefit to be included in property name; or property change from one brand to another) --- Property Name Recommendation(s) and Changes --- Analyzes and evaluates name change requests as they are submitted via formal request --- Presents appropriate hotel name recommendations based on current protocols including justification and suggested preference based prior decisions precedence --- Executes local hotel area research to assess appropriate name recommendations based on geographic location, names of other hotel properties in the vicinity, proximity to special travel attractions or destinations. Measures distance to suggested names to assure the property name is being positioned accurately to the consumer within threshold of acceptance, e.g., ---x--- miles to Disneyland. Determines whether property name should align with another nearby brand hotel. --- Facilitates agreement of name recommendation between brand, property and OFS leadership, as needed --- Reviews monthly hotel development report of potential property signings prior to committee approval. Provides recommendations for hotel names based on market; utilizes Google Maps and SharePoint committee reports. --- Property Name Global Notification Management --- Manages process of delivering hotel name updates/changes to large distribution list (internal/external); serves as central authority on name changes company wide --- Communicates with hotel owners/management, OASIS, OFS, MARSHA, EPIC Support, eCommerce and other Associates globally --- Establishes and maintains complete and current name change distribution lists for both domestic and international hotels --- Provides current hotel names and status information for brand e-directories --- Proofreading --- Proofread, collate corrections, oversee subsequent proof stages; ensure that final files are approved and ready to print and post on schedule --- Work closely with account management team and authors on content revisions --- Fact check and annotate material --- Juggle multiple projects simultaneously on tight turnaround times; complete revisions within the allocated labor hours for the project --- Review text and graphics, checking for spelling, grammar and typos; ensure fonts are consistent and uniform in size and spacing; check the accuracy of page numbers, charts, diagrams, photos, brand names and logos used --- Maintains and legacy editorial styles --- Maintain accurate notes from product meetings in order to take ideas and concepts of new products and transform them into written materials that will grab the attention of potential buyers and consumer and get them to purchase product --- Copyedit manuscripts and traffic manuscript versions --- Supervise proofreading workload trafficking and assignments Additional Responsibilities --- Informs, updates, and provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates in a timely manner. --- Attends and participates in all relevant meetings and conversations regarding property naming and product definition changes --- Highly responsive to email requests and correspondence; maintains level of confidentiality as needed --- Approaches senior level Associates diplomatically and with thoughtful and creative recommendations --- Empowered to take ownership of all naming protocol and hotel recommendations --- Presents ideas, expectations and information in a diplomatic, concise and organized manner --- Uses problem solving skills and applies strong business acumen to each naming project --- Maintains positive working relations with internal customers and department managers --- Supervise and manage Associate timesheets
