Private Equity Program / Alternative Assets / Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) has recently launched a new initiative to develop more diverse Alternative Asset (Private Equity, Growth Equity, Venture Capital and Hedge Funds) leaders and investors. This initiative is an ambitious set of career-long interventions that leverages MLT's existing programs and creates new programs to help more underrepresented minorities become, and succeed as, Alternative Asset investors. MLT has partnerships with several leading firms and several pilot initiatives underway. The Program Director will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders - including leaders of MLT's existing programs, MLT Fellows and Alumni, MLT Alternative Asset partners and many leaders / senior executives in the Alternative Asset space who support MLT and this initiative - to understand breakdowns / roadblocks in the minority talent pipeline and create programmatic solutions that will drive results. This role will include program and curriculum design, program execution, and partner / stakeholder engagement. The Director reports to the Managing Director, Alternative Assets who is leading the PE Initiative. This position is located in MLT's headquarters, Bethesda MD (when safe to reopen our office), though a remote work may be considered. The ideal candidate has worked in a major investment firm or investment bank, or a top consulting firm servicing the industry, and has current or past experience in Private Equity Investing / Alternative Assets. Excellent relationship-building, program management, and innovative problem-solving skills are essential. Superior writing skills a plus. Responsibilities

• Identify, pursue, and build strategic Alternative Asset organization partnerships to enhance MLT's efforts and visibility in the space
• Work with MLT's program teams to build or extend existing programming with Alternative Asset-specific content to implement and execute measurably effective solutions; develop content, curriculum, communications and other programmatic needs - often in conjunction with corporate partners - that strengthen and grow this initiative
• Create standards for consistent methodology deployment, to accelerate delivery of Alternative Investments expertise and subject-matter-expertise throughout MLT organization
• Assist team and MLT leadership to steward / cultivate MLT's relationships with top firms and executives in the Alternative Asset industry
• Analyze needs and recommend solutions for adding the resources (program staff, coaches, technologies, etc.) needed to enhance the growth and effectiveness of the initiative; manage Alternative Asset program staff, contractors, coaches, volunteers, and advisors
• Track, manage, and record program data and outcomes in MLT database Qualifications
  • Experience in the Investment / Alternative Asset industry, preferably in Private Equity, Hedge Fund, or Venture Capital
  • Deep understanding of the skills, relationships, and experiences required to be recruited to, and succeed at all career levels within, the Alternative Asset industry, with the ability to translate that understanding into programmatic solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, qualify leads, and close sales - particularly within relationship-focused situations
  • Ability to embrace "white space" / ambiguity, solve problems, and build a new initiative with a focus on achieving excellent outcomes
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to build confidence of stakeholders, Fellows, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Personal passion for expanding diversity within Financial Services and the Alternative Asset industry
  • Experience tracking, reporting, and using data to build compelling business cases (ideally utilizing Salesforce)
