Work you'll do

As a Deloitte Consulting Manager in the Rewards & Well-Being practice of Deloitte's GPS Human Capital group, you will perform the following job responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage significant portions of mid-sized to large client projects and work streams with minimal direction
  • Lead the communications efforts associated with the following types of compensation consulting projects for a variety of public sector clients (federal, state, local and higher education organizations):
    • Cash compensation market studies
    • Design and implementation of the following pay programs and components, among others:
      • Salary structures
      • Annual and long-term incentive programs
      • Compensation philosophies
      • Merit pay programs
      • Reward and recognition programs
      • Job architecture/job structure design projects focused on the development of job functions, job families and job levels along with job title consolidation/harmonization and market-aligned updates
      • Pay program policy and process documentation creation and updates
      • Participate in projects focusing on performance management, employee benefits, retirement, health and welfare benefits, and cash/non-cash reward and recognition benefits
      • Prepare various communication and change management materials in support of client projects
      • Prepare client reports including exhibits and summaries
      • Write and support the development of proposals and other compensation strategies project pursuits; document methodology approaches, prior experience and other qualifiers
      • Participate in marketing initiatives focused on rewards consulting services
      • Research and prepare materials for internal and external presentations focused on rewards consulting services
      • Contribute to intellectual eminence and the development of firm viewpoints on a variety of total rewards topics

        • Bachelor's degree
        • 8 years of experience in compensation communications in the public or private sector with a minimum of 5 years' experience in public sector compensation experience or a compensation communications consulting background that includes public sector experience
        • Strong knowledge of communications theory and practices focused on communications related to pay programs
        • Working knowledge of compensation surveys, custom survey design, statistical analysis, incentive plan design and analysis, job evaluation methodologies and pay structure analysis and design
        • Strong critical thinking and technical skills
        • Strong attention to detail, time management and follow through
        • Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision
        • Experience managing mid-to-large sized projects
        • Ability to lead and direct staff
        • Experience writing proposals and participating in business development activities
        • Expert proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
        • Up to 50% travel required
          • 6 years of experience in a consulting firm focused on public sector compensation communication consulting experience
          • 8 years of experience in public and/or private sector internal compensation communication roles
