About the Role
Our Chief Operating Officer will have extensive experience with an early stage company, preferably in the education industry, a strong product development background, extensive experience in direct marketing, a history of successfully leading and managing billable resources, and a proven track record in building and leading a strong revenue-generating partner channel. In conjunction with the CEO, the COO will lead a fast-paced end-to-end design and development process, from concept through design and execution, that will generate products that are on time, on quality, on budget, on strategy and provide a best-in-class customer experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Align technology-related decisions with the organization's goals, including outlining the company's vision, implementing technology strategies to support the vision, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs.
  • Establish and oversee all internal systems (accounting, financial and other reporting systems) as well as financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Foster an environment of collaborative decision making across all departments, enlisting team-storming skills and broad-based consensus building.
  • Create a work environment that promotes innovative thinking and an open forum for the communication of new ideas.
  • Recruit, retain and develop new and existing talent to the organization to support all growth initiatives.
  • Provide regular management reports to the CEO and Board of Advisors including financial performance, management performance, growth initiatives, financing alliances/ partnerships, legal related matters and general views of the company and the industry.
  • Provide regular communication with the CEO on all operational, industry and financial matters affecting the company and organization.
    Skills and Experience:
    • 10 years of relevant experience in an online product management setting
    • The ability to manage and hold accountable executive management, vendors and staff
    • A very strong technical understanding of IT systems
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
    • Experience in an entrepreneurial or early stage/start-up setting
    • Strong communications skills to ensure effective internal and external communications
    • Experience working with cross functional teams throughout the organization
    • Adaptability, an openness to new ideas, and excitement for building a quality organization
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, Communications or related field
