JOB SUMMARY

Internal Communications, a function of Global Communications & Public Affairs (GCPA), is charged with enterprise-wide communications for Marriott International, including amplification of Marriott's corporate storytelling through an agile and integrated platform. The Internal Communications Team is responsible for the strategy, creation, management, and delivery of a portfolio of enterprise-wide communications programs and channels designed to educate, engage, and excite Marriott associates globally, while also continuing to advance the Company's culture and values.

The Senior Manager, Internal Communications oversees internal communications, leading the creation and execution of key internal communications projects. This individual advises GCPA's leadership team on timing, messaging, and tactics to ensure clear, effective, and appropriate communication with associates across the Company, including the creation of periodic opportunities for connection and conversation between leaders and associates. This individual is also a key influence on other departments by helping to advise and guide their initiatives, ensuring internal awareness for critical work that has an enterprise-wide impact. This individual will also work with the Manager, Content Development Support, to contribute content to our enterprise communications vehicle(s), while also helping to advise on and pursue new opportunities to improve information flow.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director, Internal Communications.

Expected Contributions

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

* Audit current internal communications strategies and tactics to develop a comprehensive recommendation and vision for internal communications, including messaging, vehicles, and implementation plans to support the vision.
* Define goals and metrics for determining the successful execution of the internal communications strategy.
* Document processes that improve and scale internal communications. Recommend and implement process improvements by actively seeking end-user feedback.
* Research content material and develop concepts as well as draft, edit, proofread, and deliver key internal communications content across the Company. Develop and maintain an editorial calendar and content plans.
* In close collaboration with other communications partners, contribute to the strategy and execution of initiatives that help drive Marriott's culture, engagement, and inspires our associates. Serve as a bridge to align and coordinate internal communications strategies among other departments.
* Support the facilitation of measurement activities on internal communications channels (e.g., readership rates, feedback, anecdotal takeaways) and analysis of the results.
* Partner in the development and implementation of change management strategies and devise plans for new internal communications programs, initiatives, and rollouts.
* Provide copy editing, design, and deliver executive communications via appropriate channels.
* Support content development and event production for Global Meetings, Senior Leadership Meetings, and Town Hall discussions.
* Participate regularly in communications forums and provide ideas and suggestions on behalf of Internal Communications.
* Monitor and respond to emails received in the Marriott Communications support mailbox as well as the various executive support mailboxes. Research responses in partnership with other departments, as appropriate.
* As the project manager for internal communications, maintain internal communications project plans as well as collaborate with colleagues to support other internal communications activities and campaigns across the Company.
* Handle confidential information with discretion and demonstrate the highest level of customer service and product excellence.

Requirements for Position

* Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in internal communications, journalism, or public relations. Travel or hospitality background preferred. Ability to write internal communications content.
* Strong written, verbal, and listening skills; effective knowledge of English usage, punctuation, and grammar, with an emphasis on writing and editorial skills and formats.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with internal customers.
* Demonstrated project management skills including independence and ability to manage and complete multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Ability to work and influence a wide range of cross-functional teams and leaders within a matrixed organization.
* Experience with desktop software products, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
* Natural curiosity about the company and the industry that leads to creative thinking about communications topics and engagement strategies.
* Comfortable working with executives in content development, feedback integration, priority setting, and approval of internal communications strategies.
* Easily integrate feedback and lessons learned for your work and search for ways to achieve best-in-class outputs.
* Thrive on detail-oriented work and have strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
* Self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision but can also collaborate effectively in a team setting.
* Ability to adapt work hours to support the primary responsibilities, when needed.

Education

* Bachelor's degree in a communications-related field and seven (7) years' work experience or Associates degree in a communications-related field and ten (10) years' work experience.
