If you have 7-10 years IT management experience in a multi-office environment and solid experience with servers, VMWare, datacenters, NetApp storage and Cisco server platforms, this Network Operations Manager position may be just what you're looking for!This position is remote unless required in office. Office locations include: New York, Boston, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Seattle.The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the Network Operations team that is responsible for installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of all servers, storage, and data centers firm-wide. The Network Operations team is also responsible for maintaining services and applications such as monitoring, backups, replication, patching and many other services.What You'll Do:Manage the team that will:Install, configure, and maintain all Firm servers including the hardware and virtualization layersManage multiple data centers, including local office MDF/ IDF'sManage office moves, expansions and openings from a infrastructure perspective.Manage the VMWare virtualization environment, NetApp storageManage backups, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) systemsManage IS staff within the team, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline and discharge, in conjunction with CN HRMaintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and support the Firm's directive of IS Service Management (including but not limited to incident and change management)Provide mentoring and guidance for professional development to IS staff to meet the changing needs of the FirmDevelop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written processes and guidance to IS staffWork closely with the Network Architecture & Engineering and Communications teamsProvide expertise and engineering support and guidance, as needed (on a daily basis)Oversee systems work, including but not limited to, development, enhancement and upgradesCommunicate regularly with executive management and all users of information services and systemsEnsure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system manuals and documentation of modifications and upgradesKeep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirementsAssist in the development and implementation of IS policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, and othersComplete projects by coordinating resources and timetables and works appropriately with the project management teamMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmark state-of-the-art practices; participate in professional societiesAssist with defining systems requirements (hardware and software) for incoming and proposed new systemsInterface with vendors and manufacturers and advise upper management on status and quality of large-scale service and support contracts and whether they should be modifiedRequired to carry "smartphone" capable of phone, email, SMS, and other communications meansOperate within firm policies and guidelines and contribute to the Information Security groupOversee and manage problems from start to finish in all aforementioned areas and is subject to demands caused by deadlines, downtimes and heavy workloads. Make recommendations as needed for upgrades, systems configuration changes and implementation of new solutionsAll other duties as assigned or requiredWhat You'll Bring:Required:After orientation, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applicationsAbility to work extended and/or weekend hours, as requiredAbility to travel, as required5+ years of progressive IT experience, including experience in a multi-office environmentSolid experience with servers, VMWare, and data centersExperience with NetApp storage and Cisco server platformsExperience managing vendor relationshipsProject management experienceParticipate in a 7x24 on-call rotationPreferred:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experiencePrior law firm or professional services experience.ITIL Foundations CertificationProject Management Professional (PMP) CertificationExperience and/or certifications in the following:Large scale data center designs, including servers (HP/Cisco), virtualization (VMWare), storage NetApp), and BCP/DRSolarwinds monitoring servicesNetwork services Active Directory, (GPO) Policies, RFS/DFS and replicationSupervisory experienceCompetencies:Ability to work independently and to make sound judgments regarding the best course of action to resolve problems; ability to determine when further expertise is necessary and contact the proper individuals as requiredAbility and judgment to understand when status updates and user communications are appropriate and provide them to the appropriate individuals or distribution list, even and especially during times of crisisMake solid technical decision for the engineering team, as requiredAbility to work effectively under pressure, set priorities, handle multiple projects concurrently and in a timely mannerExcellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage, counsel, mentor and supervise others, including contractors and vendorsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to meet deadlines, to conduct and direct research into IS issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projectsStrong project management, organizational and time management skills.
