SummaryThe Vice President, Event Operations is an
action-oriented leader responsible for the strategic direction,
production, and seamless execution of IPW, our largest event, and
other U.S. Travel events. This accomplished professional brings
deep expertise in trade show management, event logistics, onsite
coordination, venue and vendor partnerships, budget development
oversight, and innovative event design.While the position
contributes to broader strategic planning, the core focus is
operational excellence. The VP ensures every detail is flawlessly
managed, every partnership delivers ROI, and every attendee
experience is seamless. They work cross-functionally to bring event
plans to life, translating vision into action with precision and
efficiency.Responsibilities
- Lead world-class IPW operations by orchestrating all event
elements including tactical partnerships, logistics, audiovisual
innovation, and attendee experiences-ensuring flawless execution.
Lead the operations team to ensure this same level of diligence
exists at all U.S. Travel events.
- Drive the evolution of trade show operations by aligning events
with forward-thinking strategic initiatives. Partner with internal
stakeholders to design immersive, high-impact events that captivate
target audiences, maximize engagement, and drive measurable
success.
- Leverage deep trade show experience to anticipate and address
complex logistical needs related to floor plans, exhibitor
services, move-in/move-out, and show flow. Pioneer new approaches
to event logistics, driving continuous improvements through
tech-driven solutions, data analytics, and creative
problem-solving. Harness the power of data analytics to measure
event success, identify new opportunities, and shape
forward-thinking strategies.
- Champion a culture of collaboration by working closely with
senior leaders to design cross-functional initiatives that elevate
organizational effectiveness and accelerate growth.
- Cultivate, negotiate, and manage strategic relationships and
contracts with top-tier vendors, venues, and service providers,
ensuring superior quality and next-level event execution.
- Transform each IPW Host City partnership into a storytelling
platform by curating immersive experiences, community and event
growth, and unforgettable destination showcases. Work with
marketing teams to craft compelling narratives that elevate Host
City involvement and expand international outreach efforts.
- Establish and implement gold-standard SOPs that optimize event
operations, enhance efficiency, and ensure seamless execution
across all touchpoints.
- Manage event budgets with precision, ensuring optimal resource
allocation while maximizing ROI and attendee satisfaction.
Implement risk management strategies, ensuring a seamless and
secure experience for all participants.
- Stay at the forefront of event innovation by continuously
researching emerging trends, disruptive technologies, and best
practices to redefine industry standards. Leverage cutting-edge
event design principles to redefine the visual identity and
atmosphere of every show.Key Attributes

offerings.Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent of 12
to 15 years of experience in meetings and events management. Must
include track record of successful trade show management and
working with international audiences.
- Skilled negotiator and communicator with ability to influence
and build relationships with senior executives, key stakeholders,
and multicultural teams.
- Comprehensive experience in trade show management, event
logistics, and on-site coordination, with an understanding of how
each component impacts the overall event experience.
- Association/non-profit management, event, or program
development experience; client relationship management a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications. Map Your Show,
preferred. Salesforce and Cvent a plus.Supervision

- Position based in Washington, DC. U.S. Travel staff work in the
office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with the option to work
remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
- Moderate travel (up to six times per year) may be
required.
