Matrix Providers is potentially hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in Bethesda, Maryland.

Employment Status: Full time
Compensation: This is a salaried position, paid bi-weekly.
Schedule: Assignments will be based on a work schedule 24hrs, 7 days a week and will be modified to account for specific needs; 40 hours per week.

Requirements: The Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical must have and meet the following:

Degree: Either (a), a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; or (b) a Diploma Graduate in Nursing from an accredited university.
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school and successfully pass the NCLEX exam.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS). Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is highly recommended.
Experience: Have a minimum of three years full time experience within the last five years caring for adult patients as a RN in an acute care setting. Maintain qualifications and skills of a Medical Surgical RN as confirmed by completion of the Skills Checklist and verified by the contracting clinical manager.
Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Job Summary:

Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in clinical care, quality, and cost-effectiveness
Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice by all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
Perform physical exams and health histories.
Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
Direct and supervise the care provided by other healthcare professionals.
Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergencies.
Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
Perform nursing services as identified in the official Task Order.
Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.

The ability to react to any emergency situation, e.g., cardiac or respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe physical trauma and psychiatric reaction. Serve as member of resuscitation team. Render professional nursing care to patients with medical-surgical problems assigned to the unit of the hospital. Assess patients' conditions for potential or life-threatening crises. Distinguish between normal and abnormal physical findings (from physical assessment and vital sign assessment). Plan appropriate nursing care set forth by IAW JC guidelines. Make rounds, evaluate patient's condition, answer questions, give instructions, take vital signs (TPR, BP), and check functioning of medical equipment. Record vital signs and observations. Make rounds with physicians: Prepare equipment and supplies and assist physician during treatments and examinations, cleanse wounds and incisions, change dressings and other. Prepare and administer prescribed medications. Start, replenish and discontinue IVs and blood. Perform prescribed treatments. Operate defibrillator, EKG machine, and cardiac monitor. Care for patients with mechanical ventilator, operate defibrillator, EKG machine, and cardiac monitor.
