Sterile Processing Tech Location: Olney, MD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,297 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/16/2026 About the Position Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of experience required - Acute hospital operating room experience required - Travel experience required License: - Valid state license required Certifications: - IAHCSMM or HSPA certification required Must-Have: - Basic computer skills required - Call required - 8 hours once every 6 weeks (Sunday only) - Weekends required - 8 hours once every 6 weekends (Saturday only) - Every other holiday required Description: The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the surgical services department. This position involves the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment. Immediate-use steam sterilization techniques are utilized. The technician must perform high-level disinfection and manual cleaning of various equipment. Proper labeling and organization of trays and instruments are essential. The technician must ensure proper selection of wrapping materials and follow sterilization wrapping procedures. Experience with endoscopes, including bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, and EGD scopes, is important. Knowledge of chemical agents for decontamination and disinfectants is required. The technician will be responsible for managing the documentation related to the sterilization process. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are necessary. The role includes the handling of various surgical specialties, including general, laparoscopic, orthopedic, and urology.
