Job Description:
Description Rothman Orthopaedics is looking for a Surgical
Clinical Assistant to support one of our Spine surgery Physicians
based in our Glen Mills, PA office. This doctor specializes in
treating degenerative conditions as well as traumatic injuries of
the spine. He has a particular interest in treating cervical and
lumbar spine conditions utilizing techniques tailored to each
patient’s particular needs. Treatments range from spinal
reconstruction to minimally invasive surgeries as well as motion
preserving procedures of the cervical spine. Schedule: M-F 8:00am -
4:30pm Will travel to: Glen Mills, Limerick, Blue Bell and West
Chester as needed Job Summary: The Surgical Clinical Assistant
(SCA) provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's
Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.
Responsibilities include assisting with post-op suture and staple
removal, post-op wound care, pre-admissions testing orders,
responding to patient calls and messages, and more. Key
Accountabilities: Increase patient satisfaction, compliance with
schedule prep, voicemail, compliance with policies and procedures,
decrease wait times. Responsibilities may include (but are not
limited to): Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them
to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or
front desk for checkout. Maintains order, cleanliness, and
inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to
enter. Cleans and autoclaves instruments. Provides and scans proper
paperwork to the chart for Physician's review. Records vitals as
per Physician's request. Prepares injections for the Physician.
Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the
patient's exam. Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA
regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers
are full. Answers telephones in patient areas and provides
voicemail coverage for Physician. Requests reports for various
facilities for Physicians. Empties and restocks laundry. Scans
appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen
by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment
order. Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including
ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in
the chart. Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other
Physician orders as necessary. Send Visco Injection authorization
request to supplement pre-certification representative. Scans
information into patient record (including all Physician orders,
prescriptions, etc. on the date of service). Covers other areas in
the office when not assigned to a Physician. Attends required
meetings and participates on committees as requested. Exemplifies
the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED minimum education
requirement Must be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATC Professional
license/certification must be active and valid Knowledge of medical
office procedures and medical terminology Computer skills
including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite Experience with EMR
system(s) preferred Office Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Pay Range: Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA) : $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A/EMT-B) : $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Athletic Trainer (ATC) : $48,000/yr - $70,000/yr Our Commitment to
