NPosition Type ManagementJOB SUMMARYThe Senior Product Manager, Consumer Products, is responsible for supporting the multiple technologies that drive value in this area and the work efforts for the Modern Growth Platforms in this space. This role will collaborate with business partners and technical teams to maintain a well-groomed product backlog of features to include refined user stories with solid technical solutions that are ready for development.Collaborates with client and information technology organizations to lead the definition of functional requirements and functional designs of creative solutions that will support the clients strategy and future business goals. This includes partnership with business stakeholders and close collaboration with Technology Product leaders. A familiarity with dealing with 3rd party vendors will be advantageous and the candidate should possess a working knowledge of the various roles and responsibilities. Performs independent research to proactively identify and analyze future opportunities and emerging solutions that could be applied in the clients operations to drive improvement. Leverage technical expertise in updating multi-year technology roadmaps for clients. Support Consumer Product Management and the Core Platforms organization in clarifying functional requirements and functional design during development of solution.The Senior Product Manager will demonstrate management skills and leadership in a highly matrixed environment and must be comfortable working with multiple stakeholders on numerous competing priorities. The candidate will be moderately technical with a proven record of creative solutioning and problem solving.CANDIDATE PROFILEEducation and ExperienceRequired

  • Undergraduate degreeor equivalent experience/certification
  • 6 years experience in information technology application design or development or related professional area
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum software development practice
  • Skilled at converting business needs into technology requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer needs, creatively approach solutions and decide and influence appropriate courses of action
  • Excellent communicator, both written and spoken. Must be able to explain product vision, business objective, technical feasibility, define requirements, and technical implementations
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results under challenging conditions, particularly when faced with complexity, ambiguity, and aggressive timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to drive work across multiple stakeholders in a highly matrixed environmentPreferred
    • Product Owner experience managing and prioritizing product backlog
    • Experience with Agile Development methodology and tools (CSM certification a plus).
    • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
    • Experience identifying and analyzing alternative solutions to complex business requirements and providing guidance and advice
    • Strong communication skills, including experience facilitating requirements analysis and functional design working sessions
    • Excellent analytical skills where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
    • Strong project management skills (PMI certification a plus)
    • Strong process management, negotiating, influencing, and problem resolution skills
    • Experience working with outsourced product for critical business capabilities
    • Experience analyzing 3rd Party Product/System for integration with internal systems
    • Experience working on Large Scale Systems Integration
    • Familiarity with Reservations systems, data platforms, or hospitality industry applications
    • Demonstrated knowledge of supported discipline
    • Experience with business process re-engineering
    • Broad technical experience across technical components including infrastructure, network, applications, data, and information security
    • Familiarity with Marriotts existing information architecture, application portfolio, and information management methodology
    • Knowledge of emerging technologies, including those new to the Marriott environment as well as those that are new to the information systems industry
