Location: Bethesda, MD

Job Description

The front-end Web developer is responsible for building high-quality Web pages, microsites, and user interfaces for Web and iOS applications for our members and their patients. The front-end Web developer works closely with our design team, back-end developer and project managers to develop specifications and make recommendations on the use of new and emerging technologies. The front-end Web developer also manages the workflow through BrowserCMS, our content management system and reviews all submissions from content providers before publishing to the Web.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality Web pages, microsites, and user interfaces for Web and iOS applications for our members and their patients.

Manage content management system workflow, reviewing all content before publishing to the Web.

Maintain and update our family of websites.

Provide technical (HTML code) review of all HTML mass emails before delivery.

Work with the design team, project managers and back-end Web developer to build and refine graphic designs for websites.

Convert raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes.

Determine appropriate information architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations.

Communicate to the project manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays. Engage in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value of service.

Analyze website traffic patterns and page performance via Google Analytics. Make recommendations to improve the user experience.

Coordinate online advertising program with third-party ad contractor.

Work with project managers to conduct regular review and update of sites.

Handle production and distribution of email newsletters.

Required Skills

BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.

At least 3 years of front-end Web development experience.

At least 3 years? experience at an agency, consultancy or within the Internet division of an organization.

Experience working within a CMS and providing code review for multiple content providers.

Demonstrated ability to hand-code CSS/HTML user experiences.

Demonstrated experience developing user interfaces for iOS applications.

Experience with WordPress, Bootstrap 3 and Foundation v5.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.

Knowledge of CSS3, HTML 5, JQuery, XML and XHTML.

Knowledge of user-centered design and/or user-experience artifacts.

Experience with the BrowserCMS open-source Ruby on Rails project a plus.

Helpful to have video editing experience with iMovie or Final Cut Pro.
