Job Description:

These vacancies (2) are located in the Science Policy and Evaluation Branch (SPEB), Office of Science Policy, Planning, and Communications (OSPPC) within the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). The incumbent has the principal responsibility for staying abreast of analyzing, and reporting on several areas of mental health research and service activities.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation) at the time the degree was obtained.

GS-12: In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: evaluating issues associated with health-related research programs (i.e. mental health research); analyzing health-science policies; coordinating and preparing materials with health-related research content for scientific programs; maintaining liaisons or collaborations with stakeholders; interpreting scientific information.

GS-13: In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: advising senior leadership on issues concerning health-science policies; contributing to the development of biomedical research policy; developing planning and evaluation processes; evaluating scientific programs and recommending changes; developing research policy communication documents (i.e., talking points, briefing materials, etc.).
