The Global Insurance team is responsible for program design, negotiation, and placement, as well as review of legal agreements to limit the Company's exposure to loss and assure regulatory and contractual compliance. The position supports the Insurance Department in managing Marriott's insurance programs to protect the corporation and its customers against various property, liability, employee, and financial risks. As a member of the Global Insurance team, the Manager, Insurance Placement will be responsible for serving the U.S. and Canada, as well as the Company's three Regional operations. This position is based at corporate headquarters and will report to the Director, Insurance Placement.

The Manager, Insurance Placement administers critical elements of Marriott's Global Property, Fidelity/Crime, and Fiduciary insurance programs, including coverage placement, analysis, contract review, and submission & renewal oversight. Together with the Director, Insurance Placement, the position will compile, model, analyze, and interpret data as necessary to make actionable decisions that help in protecting Marriott's Owner assets, as well as reducing the Company's total cost of risk. The position also has direct oversight of other ancillary insurance programs, including Storage Tank Liability and various E&O insurance placements. The position will also support data management for the Insurance department, including analysis/reconciliation of renewal exposure information through the use of the department's Risk Management Information System (RMIS).

The position will engage and partner with insurers, brokers, peer departments, and key business leaders, thereby strengthening Marriott's competitive advantage through excellence in risk management. The position requires a detail-oriented person with excellent written, analytical, and verbal communication skills, as well as a demonstrated commitment to the risk management discipline.


  • Assist in strategy and direct placement of Marriott's Global Property, Fidelity/Crime, and Fiduciary insurance programs
  • Oversee placement of Storage Tank Liability and various E&O insurance placements
  • Manage the collection, reconciliation, and analysis of renewal exposure and application information for respective insurance programs
  • Partner with Director, Insurance Placement to set strategy, budget, and broker servicing requirements for insurance programs to ensure that programs are cost efficient and aligned with Marriott's business needs
  • Manage the administration of entry and exit of hotels in/out of Marriott's global property insurance program, including premium return to Owner and/or recapture from insurance market.
  • Manage process for tracking and review of Owner-procured property insurance to confirm coverage in line with necessary management agreement requirements
  • Develop and manage scalable processes and SOPs that support Marriott's insurance placement and premium recovery strategies
  • Partner with Risk Finance dept in allocation of Property insurance premiums and management of program retentions
  • Manage analysis and review of Business Case Analyses (BCA) in partnership with Global Safety & Security peers
  • Assist in contract review and negotiation of insurance and indemnification provisions with operational and financing agreements for all brands within the Americas organization
  • Serve as department liaison in helping to manage Insurance department's use of RMIS system to assist in gathering necessary underwriting information
  • Evaluate and perform loss analyses of insurer data to validate claims information, drive loss prevention strategies, and development and/or interpretation of loss reports for management
  • Create and provide insurance training support to hotels, owners, asset management, and regional operations teams
  • Perform other duties as appropriate


  • At least 5 years of relevant insurance underwriting, risk management, or insurance brokerage experience
  • Demonstrated experience with large multinational insurance programs, including use of captives, coverage triggers, premium allocation and/or alternative risk finance tools
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to identify trends when managing large amounts of data
  • Demonstrated experience in contract review and negotiation of business contracts or agreements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work effectively in a collaborative work environment with senior management, owner representatives, brokers, peers, and subordinates
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills; ability to take large volumes of complex information and present in a clear and concise manner for leadership to make informed decisions
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with risk management tools - particularly RMIS systems, rating methodology, governance frameworks, and processes. Ability to identify process improvement and implement best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with insurance and non-insurance professionals
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects while meeting required goals and deadlines
  • Ability to build consensus among various stakeholder with competing priorities
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure.

Education and Professional Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline required
  • Prior CPCU, ARM, CRM, or RIMS-CRMP designation highly desirable
