The mission of the Holton-Arms School is to cultivate the unique
potential of young women through the "education not only of the
mind but of the soul and spirit." Founded in 1901 by two visionary
women, Holton-Arms continues to cultivate a diverse, inclusive, and
equitable school community, to tend to the health and wellbeing of
its members, and to build a global curriculum that responds to the
learners in our classrooms and the world. In this vibrant community
committed to academic excellence, our students are scholars,
artists, and athletes who find their voices, take risks, learn from
mistakes, pursue opportunities for leadership, and build lifelong
friendships. Caring, dedicated faculty and staff inspire our six
hundred fifty-seven girls and young women in grades 3-12 to realize
the School's motto, "I will find a way or make one." We seek
applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds, talents, and
interests who share a desire, dedication and commitment to helping
girls learn, grow, and make their way in the world.
Holton-Arms Teaching Fellowship
The Holton-Arms Teaching Fellowship program provides participants
with a two-year experience where they will develop skills and
competencies needed to be successful educators in today's global
and evolving world. Fellows learn to be teachers who provide an
education for students grounded in our Learn Well, Live Well, Lead
Well Philosophy, which is based on creating a strong sense of
diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, global competence, and
wellbeing. They participate actively in all aspects of school life
at Holton-Arms including academics, advising, and co-curricular
programs. The fellowship provides an individualized structure that
allows for personalized programming as they learn to be educators
in the independent school setting based on their passions and
interests. Fellows have the opportunity to explore teaching at all
age levels, as well as to gain experience beyond the classroom
(this may include advisory, athletics, arts, admissions,
advancement/communications, etc.). They also connect more deeply
with a specific department and/or division based on their
experience, passions, and professional goals. Fellows are mentored
by the program coordinators and host teachers throughout the
program to support their growth and progress.
By the end of the program, Fellows will have a digital teaching
portfolio which highlights their growth and skills mastered over
the course of two years. Following completion of the fellowship,
they will have the opportunity to apply for jobs within Holton-Arms
or at other independent schools. During that application process,
we will provide training on resume building and interviewing.
Holton-Arms is eager to consider applications from groups
traditionally underrepresented in independent school communities.
We are looking for a diverse mix of talented people who want to
join us as student centered educators and role models who are eager
to collaborate, seek and respond to feedback, commit to reflexive
practices and growth, and bring joy and good humor to our
classrooms, fields, stages, and offices. We pride ourselves on
being a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community.
Holton-Arms seeks candidates with the following qualifications who
are intending to begin a professional career in education:
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
