THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior
Naval Architect to provide support to the Naval Surface Warfare
Center, Carderock Divison at the NSWC headquarters in West
Bethesda, MD. The naval architect will provide engineering and
integration services in Open System Architecture for customers such
as PEO Unmanned and Small Combatants, Naval Sea Systems Command
Surface Ship Design and Development Directorate, and the Office of
The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited
to) performing or supporting the following actions:
- Support the HM&E Open System Architecture (OSA) Development
including performing conceptual studies for platform modular open
systems, system engineering efforts associated with the OSA
development process, and conduct HM&E platform and mission
system integration impact studies.
- Perform Requirements Traceability Support identifying and
tracking requirements for HM&E OSA applications and provide
comments to various platform acquisitions program offices.
- Provide technical expertise to perform quality assurance on OSA
Implementations to the HM&E Architecture Design Verification
and Validation. This may include reviewing HM&E OSA drawings
and mission systems.
- Provide support to on site testing and provide information to
the onsite test procedures.
- Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this
position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will
be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.
Security Clearance Requirements
- Must already possess a SECRET security clearance, and maintain
it for the duration of employment.
Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, including
Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, or Naval
Architecture from an ABET accredited university or college.
Master's degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture
- Ten (10) years of recent, relevant experience applying the
principles of naval architecture to projects relating to the Navy,
Coast Guard, or Military Sealift Command. Experience should
- Using relevant applications of HM&E open systems
architecture to apply mechanical/marine technology to support
platform development programs.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills within
DOD or Navy.
- Ability to conduct independent analysis and assessment studies
on government platforms/systems.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Approximately 10% or less travel is anticipated for this
